JD v1.0 (Jump to Directory)
(C) 1994 by J. Bickers
---------------------------
JD is a simple command to make navigating your hard drive simple,
without a cumbersome DOS shell. In concept, it is based on the
speed dial list you might find on your phone.
First, run the JDEDIT program. This will create a list in your
DOS directory of ten frequently visited locations on your hard drive.
(You may opt to leave any or all of the positions blank, and changing
them is always as simple as running JDEDIT again.) Include full
path names, such as:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
C:\WORK\CLIENTS\MONDAY
Each of these locations is assigned a number from 1 to ten. Then, at
any prompt, simply type:
JD <number>
where <number> is between one and ten, and you will be whisked to the
appropriate location.
The uses for this are almost unlimited, and I hope it will help you
save a lot of keystrokes, as well as time and frustration.
For best results, copy both JD.COM and JDEDIT.COM into your DOS directory.
This assures you will have access to both from anywhere on the drive,
and maintains consistency with the other utilities in this series.
Please feel free to send feedback, suggestions, or comments regarding
this or any of my other utilities to:
